  • 7 km Trail Run (starts just after 14 km race)

  • 20 km (starts 09h30)

Wondering how it all works? Here are some Frequently asked questions:

Q: Why should I come to the ARAMEX colour festival?

A: Cause it’s time to let your hair down and do something different! Who said you can’t race hard and play hard? You will enjoy:

a)      Awesome trails, in great condition and a special section through the Rainfarm Game & Lodge

b)      A great venue (the Living Earth dam and lawns)

c)      A choice of trail run or mtb ride only or any combination of both

d)      A beer and food tent (it’s a Saturday so make a day of it.)

e)      Kids village to occupy the kids (no charge courtesy of Aramex and Holla Trails)

f)       You can do both the trail run and a MTB race on the same day (any of the distances.)

g)      An excellent live band playing well known cover tunes.

And mostly because missing out sucks!

Q: How does it work?

A: There will be two colour zones (one on the route and one just after the finish line) where you will have some colour thrown at you.

Q: I don’t want to have colour thrown at me. What can I do?

A: No problem, each colour zone can be bypassed by taking a slightly longer detour (about 15 seconds) around it. Look out for the detour arrows.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Please wear white clothes – it adds to the effect. Though the colour will eventually wash out of just about everything, you may not want to bring your fanciest sports gear. Rather wear older garments that aren’t too special. (See wash tips below)

Q: What is the colour powder and will it affect my breathing or vision?

A: The powder is basically food grade corn-starch and is 100% natural and SAFE.  As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes and colour throwers will make sure to aim low as you pass by.  You can opt to wear glasses or goggles for your eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for your mouth if you are concerned about that sort of thing.

Q: Will we be able to clean up after the race?

A: There will be open air showers, after the race where you can rinse off. Please note this is dam water so safe for showering but not for drinking.

Q: How does the post-race colour throw work?

A: The crowd will do an organised colour throw just in front of the stage just before the prize giving at 13h00. We provide one bag of colour in your goodie bag so use it or give it to someone else to use if you already cleaned up and will be standing back. (We will also have some extra colour powder on hand).

Q: Any tips for cleaning my clothes?

A: The colour is probably not coming all the way out of your white cotton shirt. You should be proud of that!! Remove all excess powder before adding water. Wash your Sports gear separately, with COLD water.

Q: How does the colour affect the inside of cars?

A: Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, just in case.
